Recommended Recipes for Farm Fresh Basket (Week of September 12)

Thank you for ordering a Rootastes Farm Fresh basket! We hope you’re enjoying your fresh, locally grown produce, meats, and other Boston-based goodies!

If you’re looking for inspiration or to mix up your go-to recipes, we’ll be sharing a few of our favorites every week that can be prepared using the ingredients in that week’s basket.

This week’s recipes will work with ingredients included in September 12, 2020’s baskets.

Rootastes’ Chefs’ Curated Recipes

You’ve likely crunched into a spring roll, but have you tried its fresh relative, the summer roll?

Summer rolls wrap crunchy veggies with a protein in rice paper. They’re light, refreshing, and tasty when dipped in sauce. Give them a try in Red Cabbage Summer Rolls with Pan Seared Atlantic Wild Salmon for an extra summery flair.

For a healthy and vegetarian alternative, Queen’s Greens Gemstone Mix Salad with a Refreshing Champagne Apple Vinaigrette tosses broccoli, tomatoes, red cabbage, onions, apples, and pears atop a gemstone mix from Queen’s Greens and red leaf lettuce. This jewel tone salad is regal and delicious! You’ll want to make a double batch of that vinaigrette. ;)

Chef Favorites

Did you grow up loving broccoli smothered in cheese? Then you have to try the adult version, Garlic Parmesan Roasted Broccoli. Parmesan is an upgrade to the saucy- typically artificial cheese- used, and adds a piquant punch. Garlic is a delightful addition while the roasting process crisps everything to perfection. No endless chewing required!

And speaking of crispy, we loved last week’s hash brown recipe so much that we’re including another one this week! Skillet Browned Potatoes and Onions are crispy on the outside and soft when bitten into, while onions add a lush texture. Scallions and pepper pop in some flavor.

If you decide to give any of these recipes a try, let us know what you think. We’d also love to see how you’re getting crafty in the kitchen with your basket, so be sure to share your favorite recipes below.
