Recommended Recipes for Farm Fresh Basket (Week of September 5)

Thank you for ordering a Rootastes Farm Fresh basket! We hope you’re enjoying your fresh, locally grown produce, meats, and other Boston-based goodies.

If you’re looking for inspiration or to mix up your go-to recipes, we’ll be sharing a few of our favorites every week that can be prepared using the ingredients in that week’s basket.

This week’s recipes will work with ingredients included in September 5, 2020’s baskets.

Rootastes’ Chefs’ Curated Recipes

It’s Labor Day weekend! We’re firing up the grill as much as we can and taking advantage of what’s in season.

Farm stands are now overflowing with corn, so we recommend tossing it in our Rootastes’ Summer Corn Salsa and Chips. The recipe calls for plenty of peppers, tomatoes- of course!-, a hearty handful of cheese, and All Souls Tortilla’s corn tortillas for dipping.

If you’re ready to say so long to summer, Roasted Maple Delicata Squash, Carrots & Colored Cauliflower Medley is the perfect transition to fall. Maple syrup adds festive sweetness to warm weather root vegetables, while cauliflower maintains a late summer vibe.

Chef Favorites

Grilled romaine is all the rage these days, and this recipe tops it with juicy tomatoes, crunchy corn, moist feta cheese, and a zippy mustard vinaigrette. If you’re hesitant on grilling a green, Grilled Romaine Salad with Tomato and Corn Tumble is the best place to start.

Elevate your morning homefries in Poblano Breakfast Potatoes, tossed with poblano peppers, onion, garlic, and a pinch of chili powder. It adds crunch and spice to soft potatoes and makes a savory side to eggs and even steak.

If you decide to give any of these recipes a try, let us know what you think. We’d also love to see how you’re getting crafty in the kitchen with your basket, so be sure to share your favorite recipes below.
